The Carter® CV1000 Circuit Verifier Diagnostic Tool
Instructions for Use

Connect the two terminals on the free end of the 15-foot attachment cable to the Carter CV1000. Secure the terminals into the Carter CV1000 by fastening the screw terminals.

Unplug the vehicle fuel pump.

Using the correct cable adaptor, connect the appropriate end into the vehicle fuel pump harness.
Connect the 15-foot attachment cable into the free end of the adaptor harness connected to the vehicle fuel harness.
With Carter CV1000 in hand, turn the Carter CV1000 switch to the ON position by sliding the switch to the left.

Confirm that the red and green LEDs flash one time, indicating that the Carter CV1000 is ready to test. Within 3 seconds, turn the test vehicle ignition switch to the RUN position.

If the green LED consistently flashes and the buzzer beeps, this confirms that the wire harness and associated electrical system are functioning properly. Be sure to wiggle the body side wiring for intermittent issues and then retest. If the green LED consistently flashes and the buzzer beeps, the fuel pump or related components may be at fault.

If the red LED consistently flashes and the buzzer beeps, this confirms that there is an electrical problem with the wire harness or associated electrical system.
In this case the fuel pump would be considered in good condition. Return the vehicle ignition switch to the OFF position.
Return the Carter CV1000 switch to the OFF position. Disconnect the Carter CV1000 and associated 15-foot attachment cable and adaptor harness, and conduct repair work to the fuel system as necessary.
